The culture of Good Girl is ingrained from montessori or nursery into our system. I was playing with my 3 year old. She had taken a scissor and wanted to cut papers. Normally we would charge and pounce on her and take it away from her saying you will hurt yourself. This  time for some unknown reason I LET IT BE. Her sister saw and she ran away from her into another room. Her mother saw and she ran further away. She knew the scissors would be taken away from her. But they enquired and I said, she was cutting paper and they too LET IT BE. She was cutting it so well, repeating the instructions that she would have learnt at Aura Montessori. Now, cut like this. Now, Move like this. After a while she got confidence  in me that I will not snatch away her game so she called me to sit beside her. Then, she said its your turn. I went away inside. She came back and made a box like thing from paper and asked me write "Good Girl" on it. I did. She said Thank you and went ...

What is the right time for children to get exposed to TV? What type of TV content is appropriate and at what age? TV is a passive medium which dulls all minds. Any multimedia screen stops the mind from functioning and stops its growth. All senses are engaged as you sit and watch. The engagement is not productive. After few hours of TV you feel dull and irritated. With nuclear families its easier to dump the child on the bean bag in front of TV as you go back to your chores and computer. I saw a parent hitting a the back palm of a girl child aged about 5 in front of sweet shop, beside SLV in RBI Layout. Her offense. She was holding a pole that must have gathered dust during the day. She was merely playing with it. Of-course her palms would get dirty. She may acquire infection. But does that justify the swift hard movement of an adult arm to distract and hurt her. She managed to go into her mother's arm. Mother then changed attention of father to the sweets that they had to buy. The girl looked at the Frootie in the cold storage. The School Van leaves at 8:10. There is anarchy at 8. Passions run high. Chaos is supreme. Everyone is panicked except the girl who has to catch the Van. She is sliding from one act to another like feathers on silk. It is common to hear. Don't you have sense of time? Why are you day dreaming? A beautiful evening of performance at MLR convention center. An evening where the children performed, teachers and support staff orchestrated the events and parents simply walked in and witness the performances. We could only clap at the series of performances. The skits made us laugh. The history took us into our past. The theme for this year was Goa and Maharashtra. We could see the costumes of Portugese,Hindu and Sultanate/Mughal rulers. We could hear the Portuguese music customized by local and called as Goan. The choir. The flowing dances, ballets and folk. Mumbai illustration had Songs and Dance from Bollywood, fashion from the commercial capital of India. The dance/fashion of every decade was portrayed, we could see twist/disco/... The children looked so happy in performance. The older kids looked so matured walking on the ramp. The kids helping with seating arrangements were so courteous , soft and beautiful.
