Moments so Far ...

Lets talk about a couple who stays in apartment in a modern city like Bangalore. Its a young working couple with a new born baby and a caretaker. A caretaker who comes in at 5:30 AM in the morning and goes back at 9:30 PM in the night. Why they need a caretaker? Because they don't want/know to cook don't have time to maintain their house don't have time to rear the baby earn heavily before they become old add your reasons here Who is the caretaker? She stays in the nearby locality where most low income people reside.  How come the caretaker family are so close to a posh locality? They are not close. Its the builder who got cheap mango groves near their locality for peanuts and converted into series of high rise apartment complex, creating a neighbourhood of disparity. Who is caretaker's husband? He is an auto driver who parks his vehicle outside the apartment complex and stays more still then mobile to make money.  You mean he does not go...

Who pays for your phone? You. Unless its gifted or won in sweepstake. Who pays for the internet or the data plan? You. Unless you can somehow get through so many wifi routers broadcasting/screaming, come ride on me. Who collects the data? Mobile Apps. Websites. What data they collect? who are you? where are you? what are you doing? Who is paying them to collect your whereabouts? You. Who is making money?  They. AArgh. How come there is no " You " here.  How did it happen? How did you missed the when it was rising? How did you fall into the " free " trap?  When a book is published the creator/author gets commission on every sale.  When a meal is ordered the owner gets part of the whole as profit.  You are the owner of your coordinates. You are the author of your life story.  Why don't you get paid for it? Why don't you get commission for it? How can we claim back the privacy? How can we protect so that...

It was fun at IIMB who were host to mobilecampindia which was co-sponsered by Flypp and Intel App-up. Thank you keshav, hari and rest of the 9 volunteers of momo's eleven. The above all helped me to present @ourhousehelp otherwise known as househelp at android market. It was pure fun. I could notice few grim IIM professors smiling during the presentation. The positives were lifting as I described the journey so far. In brief heres a  gist for you.  The idea belonged to my spouse who released the budget for me to buy Android powered Samsung Galaxy 5. I am also grateful to the thugs who took away my old Nokia and my love for Nokia in a tight BMTC ride. The development began in November end and househelp was released on Android market by end of december 2010. Nokia is all over the place with great push for their ovi store. They are in malls, in conferences and in start-up events. They are extending their distribution channel for app developer to connect their customer with their apps. What is in an mobile phone app that Nokia is losing its sleep over? It looks like market share. New India based mobile manufactures have gathered significant marketshare in last couple of years. With companies like Spice,Micromax,Lava and Videocon in the fray. It could be Android too. The adaption of android development environment by developers across Asia and world is one such sign. Second could be price point of touch based devices. The buy was long pending. It was triggered by a theft . I bought the Samsung Galaxy 5 paying Rs 650 more at Sangeetham mobiles than at flipcart.com just to have their theft/accident/water insurance coverage. My daughter picked up the features faster than I and she demonstrated some cool tricks within few hours like you could go to clock-then camera and then run slideshow. My Spouse was a late entrant but was hooked to " Angry Birds ", Bistro Cook. My one year kid always changed the swype keyboard language to one of European languages and the keyboard layout changed each time and I had struggle understanding why the letters are changing places each time I go to swype. The initial rush of downloads saturated onboard memory and I had to uninstall few apps including angrybirds. I learnt about kies and how to do firmware upgrades through it.
