The Lure Stalk model

Lets talk about a couple who stays in apartment in a modern city like Bangalore. Its a young working couple with a new born baby and a caretaker. A caretaker who comes in at 5:30 AM in the morning and goes back at 9:30 PM in the night. Why they need a caretaker? Because they don't want/know to cook don't have time to maintain their house don't have time to rear the baby earn heavily before they become old add your reasons here Who is the caretaker? She stays in the nearby locality where most low income people reside.  How come the caretaker family are so close to a posh locality? They are not close. Its the builder who got cheap mango groves near their locality for peanuts and converted into series of high rise apartment complex, creating a neighbourhood of disparity. Who is caretaker's husband? He is an auto driver who parks his vehicle outside the apartment complex and stays more still then mobile to make money.  You mean he does not go...

Loosing out on the path of freedom

Who pays for your phone? You. Unless its gifted or won in sweepstake. Who pays for the internet or the data plan? You. Unless you can somehow get through so many wifi routers broadcasting/screaming, come ride on me. Who collects the data? Mobile Apps. Websites. What data they collect? who are you? where are you? what are you doing? Who is paying them to collect your whereabouts? You. Who is making money?  They. AArgh. How come there is no " You " here.  How did it happen? How did you missed the when it was rising? How did you fall into the " free " trap?  When a book is published the creator/author gets commission on every sale.  When a meal is ordered the owner gets part of the whole as profit.  You are the owner of your coordinates. You are the author of your life story.  Why don't you get paid for it? Why don't you get commission for it? How can we claim back the privacy? How can we protect so that...

Data Business models

The Free to Use Model Internet is inundated with free services. You can use them for free and you will not be charged a penny. But have you gone a little further and explored what happens once your usage leaves you and reaches the service provider. And from the service provider how it lands up into the valley of other service provider and so on and so forth. Did you know that the Google Maps traffic update is due to your owning the Android phone and your moving around with it in your pocket? The ad in gmail is due to the content inside your email. Similarly, for other ad networks. Lets talk about few more models. You use a flight itinerary app. It gives you notifications on flight delays, nearby hotels at destination etc., And its free? Why? Because your itinerary is now with app. The backend knows from you are, where you will go and when you will go? How much time will it take from the app to the duty free shop, nearby hotels, airport taxi providers know that? And who wil...

Why should you hire anybody?

When you look for individuals to fill a position in your company, what do you look for? Is it attitude  skill presence  ? Attitude includes things like "I am so great and I know so much" or "I am just learning and can pick up well" or "I have done it in the past but now I forgot" or "I know I can do it but I cannot jus tell you how?" or "I am jack of all but master of none or opposite". Skill is obtained by hard work or its a nature's gift. You have certain gaps and you want to fill those. There are better skilled people out there who can do it for you. Presence is how you feel in presence of the individual in front of you. Do you feel comfortable or do you feel agitated? What do you expect the person to tell you when you ask "Why would you like to work for this company?" Is it something like  You are the best talents out there and I would like to learn from you. Your company has the best...

Judge me not

Judge I always from the waking hours till I hit the bed From the moments the eyes open Sitting along along cursing oneself On the streets catching glimpse of people besides forming opinions of them in mind When the eyes see they judge When the ears hear they judge When you taste they judge And your mind keeps judging all the time tired of my opinions sick of my judgements cant they just flow blow away like winds But when they stay envy comes jealousy blossoms And time is lost in frivolous little there is only one judge which is above and  divine just let him do his work and you do yours don't waste another moment judging one and another

What is product?

A product can have following attributes solves a primary problem easy to use adds value simplifies living connects lives  It need not solve a unique problem. It can solve a problem that has never been defined. More importantly it should connect with the user.  It is an expression of the creator.  It shows the care taken before presenting it to you. It is a way of communicating that I am trying to help you in ways in which you have not been treated before. A way of connecting with the user. It is integral to your living but at the same time not addictive. It solves quickly and goes back to hibernate. It does not take away your productivity and hints that you have spent more time than is the norm.  If there is a value to the user then the creator also benefits monetarily. Its a crime to charge somebody who is trapped and has no way out. A willing user who comes to the product by choice is better.  It should come to you through friends, i...

Vibhuti Yoga - 9th chapter of bhagvad geeta

You have eyes, ears to engage in the world, to benefit the world. If you are only lost in meditation with closed eyes then what is the use of these eyes. They are given to do some karma , when you engage in the worldly affairs it is natural for you to get attracted to certain aspects of the work and hate or dislike certain aspects of the work. When these attractions or aversions come then is the time for you to surrender them to me and move on with your work. This is spirituality.

Indian Democracy and elections - a new hope is born

One thread that united india was the recently concluded Indian elections. It cut across caste, creed, religion and social status. It was a topic of discussion in the tea stalls to boardroom. Every indian has opinion on the elections. You talk to security guard or auto wallah or to CEOs or  artists. It affects and is part of out blood. That is the nature of true democracy. A democracy into which life was fostered again, which got revived this time on mantra of development and good governance. During the campaign politics of dole, freebies, fear, religion (clouded by various epithets like secular/communal ), character assassination, untouchability was superseded by politics of hope, of good governance , of development. A new era is born in India. The youths have chosen to chide away their caste and religion and opted for their bright future and linked it with strong leadership. Like any organisation democracies are also led from top. When the top inspires the whole value cha...

knowledge cleanses the mind

You know there are 5 ways to depress the mind. The same 5 ways are to uplift the energy levels of the the mind. Time - the mind simply goes down for no reason. There is not much you can do here except pray for the times to change. Food - The right amount and type of food at the right time can keep you energised. The excess intake of food may depress you. The more depressed you are you may take more wrong food at wrong time and the vicious cycle continues. State of body - Some disease or illness can also bring down the energy of the mind. Here everyday pranayama and sudarshan kriya and other yoga practises keep body out of sickness and inactivity and inertia.  Singing-dancing -  otherwise known as satsang wherein you chant, sing and glorify divinity in its various manifestations, you increase your energy. This also helps release emotional blockages. Seva - Doing something for others. Not being lost in your own world 24/7. When you come out of your own world and exchange...

Voters ID registration drive

VBI (Volunteers for better India) organised voters ID registration drive in Brigade Gardenia on 18th and 19th of Jan 2014. We had 191 application forms submitted. Some highlights A couple aged 74 and 78 registered for first time. An elderly gentleman who was barely able to converse and shaking body congratulated us. He brought in forms of his and his wife who were born before India got independence. A youth brought in his laptop with datacard and needed to know why his mothers name was not reflecting in electoral roll. A teen who was to turn 18 on April asked can he register now? A girl who filled her form with picture perfect, clear and beautiful handwriting. Few sons with no proof of address for their mother, sticking around till we figured out a way for them to register her for voters id. Few photos and video 1 and video 2 . Organizing and executing the drive was heartwarming experience. You get to see the beautiful sides of so many fellow residents that you wonder ...
