Debugging Anger - the root cause

If you are angry then its due to lie. If you are angry then its on unreal. If you are stuck then its due to lie. In comparison you get stuck. In competition you get stuck.  In wanting more you are stuck. When you are stuck and not able to unstuck then you are angry.  If you are angry then its due to a lie.  If you are angry at something or someone then its unreal.  Your stomach pit is wrenching tight, you get mad at yourself “all these years of sadhana and spiritual practices seems to have failed.”. Then your tightness is a lie, your sadhana is a lie, your spiritual practice is a lie. Why waste rest of your life trying to fight a lie? What will you get if you win over a lie? What is the point of spending so much energy against a lie?  What will you prove in the end? That it was a lie. All along you have known its a lie and still you are spending time proving its a lie.  This world is full of lies. What is the po...

Truth about the lies that cause anger

What is the root cause of anger? If someone lies then we get angry with them. If something was promised and not delivered we get angry. If we wanted something and it did not get fulfilled then we get angry. But if everything is lie then where is competition, comparison, complex (inferior/superior) ? Can you pause for a while and reflect on the lies for a while? What do you get? Some freedom, sense of relief. This knowledge can lead to being careful or careless, responsible or irresponsible. I am dhaval, yet I am not I am married, yet I am not I am father, yet I am not I am son, yet I am not This world has some aspects which are real and some which are lies. Yet this world is lies, and everyone here is bundle of lies. This mind is full of lies, so many times the thoughts have betrayed us, yet we keep relying on it. Love is the biggest lie. Daily spiritual practices are lie. Every thought born in mind is lie. Every word spoken is a lie. Even Gurudev...

Intuition process - a journey into trust

It was disbelief. It was scary. I was stunned. I did not know. Its like the time when a child is born and brought in front of you for the first time. Nature's mystery and miracle becomes evident. The unknowable, unseeable makes its presence felt. The knowledge gets a new definition. A definition without basis, without effort. A skill simply is born. Simply appears. Simply is there. And your fundamentals break, scatter. You are let groping in dark, again searching for light. The journey restarts. The quest re-begins. How else can you explain how intuition process works. A little background. Around a year back Gurudev introduced Intuition process as an art of living program to develop the sixth sense or the intuitive abilities in children in age group 8-18. Immediately diverse results from children at various age started coming along. Some developed music, some sports skills, some could heal and some could go past and in future and predict with impossible a...

Sudarshan kriya as friend

Sudarshan kriya is your friend. It is there with you from your first breath to the last. And in every step that you take in life. The rhythm keep changing but they always come back to original. Kriya gives you the experience that you most care of. Kriya takes away and washes off the experience that you least care of but which still has been coming back. It clears you of your pain. Step by step. Everyday. It takes you closer to your original being. It gives you glimpses of your true self. Just like a true friend, in good as well as in bad time kriya is there by the side. Every morning it prepares you for the day. Each day it helps to recover your life, your naturalness. It has been your friend since time immemorial, and will continue to do so beyond your memory. It is not just a breathing technique. The technique is only disguise. The truth of kriya is incomprehendible, beyond reason, beyond faith. I dont know 99% of time why kriya works. Even in remaining 1% I am n...

Commentary on Chapter 11 of Bhagvad Geeta by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar ji - Day 1

The visvaroopa विस्वरूप दर्शन of divine happens when devotee is deeply connected. Has total trust and believes in the ways of unknown, unseen. There are two kinds of people in the world. One who are feeling helpless and hopeless that no matter what they do the earth is going to collapse. Others who say that God is doing everything so what can we do and laze off, careless . Both the extremities are not healthy.  Krishna says - I have taken care of this universe from time immemorial (सनातन काल से) and will continue to do so. There is a natural law which runs the entire show and it will continue to do so. You just have to believe in that and continue doing your part with hope and help . That power is ever present to help you in every step of your life. Recognise it.  That grace is required to carry us through. Effort can only help us swim in calm waters but if there is rough sea then a helping hand is required. No matter how much effort you put as ...

When will you get enlightened? - from Yoga Vasistha knowledge series

The last question of the session was Who decides when I get enlightened? < Nakul's Answer came spontaneously as > You. Its YOU.  Ok, its time to wrap up. Next session is on sunday 31st July at 9PM. Jai Gurudev. Baffled. Confused. Broken. I was lost. All my definitions were flying in the sky, scattered clouds. Mind was unsettled. How can it be? How can I decide when I want to be enlighten? Is it so straightforward? Is it so easy? What about karmas? What about grace? Mind was flooded with queries. . . . The best type of answers don't have questions. The deepest questions have no answers. . . Who is this YOU that Nakul was referring to? Was it me in my current disposition? Will it be me in some future evolved disposition? Where will I be and what will I be in order to be THE YOU that Nakul was referring to? . . story time . . Gadhi was a pious brahmana who once lived in Kosala. He went to the forest and meditated for 8 months. When...

Freeing the mind and egolessness - from Yoga Vasistha knowledge series

The subtle combo of mind+intellect+memory+ego runs in self-feeding cycle. Ego brings forth the I-ness. Ego nudges the memory to bring into focus an incident/situation in which it triumphs or suffers. Memory nudges the intellect to argue on the situation. Intellect creates the argument and prepares the mind to have the argument. The mind comes into existence with the thoughts germinated in the intellect. The thoughts hail or destruct the ego. And the journey of life begins. You are born. Why are you born? A little story. Once Vishnu was in BrahmaLok and everyone came forth to welcome him except Sanath Kumar. When you get "don't care" in dispassion then its arrogance. Vishnu sensed this and cursed SanathKumar to spent one lifetime on Earth as punishment, as a journey to dissipate this arrogance/egoness. At that moment SanathKumar also cursed Vishnu to spent a lifetime on Earth while he was there and so Shree Ram was born. So tell me why were you born? hmm.. Even...

Purpose of life - from Yoga Vasistha knowledge series

The purpose of life is to be liberated. Your life is designed for liberation. The life is a progression towards liberation. Q> What is liberation from? A> It is from your ego. Q> Who is the guardian of ego? A> The mind. Q> Can you compare this progression of life to something? A> Its like the river cleaning the impurity thrown into it and making it spotless, clean. It is the nature of the river to clean. After some travel the impurity becomes pure, loses its identity, loses its ego. You just merge. Q> Need another example, not so clear? A> Imagine a fire in the forest. Wood burning and smoke rising. The smoke can rise only to certain height, the smoke will travel certain distance. After some rise, some travel, it disappears into the space. It simply merges, loses its identity. Our life is also like that. Its an opportunity for us to paint on an empty canvas. It's upto you to make this progression enjoyable or full of hassles. We may drag l...

The History of Anger

It has been a difficult emotion, expressed indifferently and at unexpected moments in life. It has affected my parents, me, my spouse, my children, my colleagues and somebodies whom I have directly or indirectly interacted in past. But it was a call to the SBI call center which brought the anger expression into perspective. I had ignored my SBI current account for few months. I was out of freelancing since a while and there was not much action happening there. But I happen to see the yearly statement by chance while making a bill payment. I noticed that on 2 occasions the bank had fines me for around INR 650. Instantly sent them email. Not satisfied called them up. A lady agent received the call and explained that “rules say” If you do not maintain a minimum balance of INR 10000 per quarter you will be charged around INR 650 per quarter. I explained that I was not aware of the rule. She said, she cannot even take a complaint as it was crystal clear rule wh...

Happy new year 2073

A first time to banasankari amma’s temple at bangalore. The morning of April 8, 2017 was spent with special participants of art of living happiness programme at RBI Layout center. The evening was to be in art of living satsang led by dearest Swami Suryapada ji (otherwise known as Chayyana ji, with love). Started walking to the temple. The first few Bangalore auto wallahs ignored. One well dressed and young one of them stopped and demanded INR 80, almost double. Another, shabbily dressed and middle aged simply switched on the meter. Entered temple. Not knew which direction to take. Where to keep the footwear? Some feet were bare and going in, searched for ones not bare and followed them. Suddenly, the footwear stand appeared on the left end of the temple. Saw the banner declaring satsang in kannada along with photos of Sri Sri and Chayyanna. The stage was getting set. Suddenly saw one of the AOL happiness programme participant there. She said she came...

How to explore the space as team?

Most times you want to lead. It creates a pressure on you to think, direct and move in certain direction. It is difficult not to lead. Then facilitator instructs you, Now try not to lead . Pause. Allow not to be lead. Wait. Some moments of awkwardness happen. The impulse to lead dilutes. The effort to direct dissolves. The wait becomes bearable. And then you allow to be lead. Then the facilitator instructs you. There comes a time when you are not leading nor being led and simply the movement happens. The rules of movement still hold but the movement is unrestricted. Then you simply flow in the space. Together as team you explore the space. Share. Learn. Move. Unafraid. Unjudged. Like you river your path happens . The jungle of risks, smoothens . The stones of challenges weather . The above thoughts were born out of a team workshop conducted by Preeti Sunderajan, CEO of GAIT . Reach out to her if you need to smoothen out the rough edges from your te...

Meditating on gravitational waves

The gravitational waves were detected by LIGO. They predicted that it came from a violent incident billion of light years ago.  A confirmation of something which Einstein had theorised a century ago. I wonder at construction of  LIGO, the instrument which has measured this phenomenon. The key to LIGO's success is its ability to be sensitive even with so much noise around. The earth, atmosphere, Sun and all cause so much noise to distract it from hearing what it was meant to hear. And scores of scientists spent years of effort and governments spent millions to make it so that it can hear. Hear what it was made to hear, ignore noise. We too have a similar instrument called mind. It is meant to hear the gravitational waves. It can stretch and compress, move in multi-dimension. But most of the while it is lost in the noise. So we have meditation . In ancient India rishis meditated. Years of rigorous practice had fine tuned their range of frequency to listen. They could he...

An autobiography of rocking chair

I am not rock, James Rock. I don't hurt nor people throw me around. Rather they settle down on me. Some hold my hands, some just drop their weight onto me, some swing and glide before settle and sing song on me. They all come to me because they like to move to and fro. They cannot be still. I let them move so that something in them settles. I was born long time ago in the great human mind of probably Benjamin Franklin. Some say it could be before but I don't recall. I am just a little chair that can hold you like your mother when you were infant. She rocked you in her arms. I rock you in my lap. Tired and lost Fresh and bubbly low or high contemplative or chatter morning or night take a small flight to and fro wavering and then settle down I am your little rocking chair, in your garden, balcony or living room, matching or in contrast, waiting for you.
